Thomas Davenport made the initial discoveries of electric vehicles in 1834. He had experimented with magnets and created a motor device with a wheel, he patented it and later produced the first vehicle powered by electricity.
Davenport’s inventions along with other discoveries at the time led to the first practical electric vehicle by the invention of the lead-acid battery by Gaston Plante, lead-acid is still used in cars today. This new battery was able to discharge large amounts of energy, which in return assisted Thomas Parker in the invention of higher functioning electrical carriages.
During the 1890’s electric cars where the hype, it outsold motor vehicles by far, they were smooth, quiet and clean, in the other hand motor vehicles required hand cranking at the time and released toxic fumes.
The Golden Age of Mid 1900’s declared the death of electric cars. People preferred the powerful purr of motor engines instead of the short-range quite electric cars. It wasn’t until 2006 when an increased interest of “Clean and Green” started to emerge that electric cars started to make a comeback, the Volt was introduced thereafter as well as Tesla.
New Technology Tesla uses Induction motors to run their cars
The main reason that Tesla cars popularity comes from its from their innovative battery. It is called, the Tesla Powerwall.
The Tesla Powerwall is a lithium-ion battery that is rechargeable, though it doesn't sound much different than the well knows energizer bunny home batteries they are the same batteries that are in laptops,Ecigs,and may other household devices, they are essentially a large quantity of 18650 lithium ion batteries, it can store solar energy and it can be even be used to power your home! It uses the power of the sun, transferred to an inverter that then changes the electric current to what you're able to use for normal electricity power you electric devices.
Types of Vehicles
Aside from electrical cars, there has been a surge of other electric vehicles in the last 10 years.Tesla is domination the electric car market. they have a comparable range to a car on the upper models, and the sport model has one of the fastest 0 to 60 times for any car. UVU's own Collision Repair Program is building an electric rock crawler named "Shock Factor"
Electric bike kits
The internet offers various sites in which electric bike kits are being sold. Multiple youtube tutorials are also available if assistance is needed to install those electrical kits. This kits are very cheap; however, they are hard to manage. They consist of a small generator placed in the rear wheel, this produces a small amount of energy that goes to a generator.
Electric Motorcycles
a company called Zero Motorcycles is producing electric motorcycles. their models range from enduro style to sport bike style. they have a range of 200 miles. they are quiet and have instant torque.
One-Wheel
The One-Wheel is an innovative cross between a skateboard, a snowboard, and a hoverboard, it started out as a Kickstarter campaign and it has gain momentum and popularity rapidly within the last year. This amazing device is powered by a lithium battery and motion sensors. It uses hyercore technology which allows it to go 6-8 miles on a 20 minute charge session. The unique thing about this vehicle is that is an all terrain "hoverboard" It not only drives through smooth surfaces, but it can be taken through sand, rocks, dirt snow, water and even fire! it a true all terrain skateboard. Its techonology, the lithium battery, is very symilar to some electric bikes out in the market, and unlike the Segwauy, it uses the individua'ls sense of balance to staty on path. This innovative skateboard/hoverboard device is become very popular in the past year and it has kept with the demand and innovativated to better batteries that last longer and better designs.

Electric vehicles have been a way of life since the firt fossil fuel cars came about, their popularity and functionality keeps rising as gas prices keep rising. Innovative solutions to versatile devices are definetly making a name for themselves, and as people become more self-aware of the dangers of possibilities of future resource scarcity, these vehicles will gain more functionality and capability contests against the good on gas cars.
