I would like to expand and investigate recycling. I am most interested in looking at how they recycle pop cans. I would like to see if it is cost efficient to recycle the metal. I would also like to look into the process of recycling and how many cans have to be recycled to make a new pop can. It would also be a good thing for me to explore battery recycling and how they recycle lithium. Cars can be recycled as well. But I would be very interested in how many parts on a new car come from recycled material. Straying away from recycled metal, I would like to look into how they recycle milk jugs into clothing and material. It is important to find out if it is cost effective to use these materials to create clothes. If a company is losing money on recycling it will not last very long and will lose its ability to research new ways to recycle or reprocess old products.

I find it very amusing that people can take soda pop cans and melt them down to create new stuff. Recycled pop cans/aluminium can be melted down and made into many different useful items like, more pop cans, aluminum sheeting for roofs and siding, it can also be made into tin foil. Aluminium is one of the easiest metals to recycle because it can be used over and over again, it is also very easy to process (Ludwig, 2009). “Making cans from recycled metal takes 95 percent less energy and 95 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than using new metal” (Association, 2017).

The first step in processing pop cans is collecting them from people who turn them in for some quick cash. Then they are gathered up and taken to a treatment plant, where they are then cleaned and separated into consistency of metals. The cans are then remelted and turned into molten, if the cans have decoration on them it is melted to nothing in the hot temperatures. “The aluminium is then made into large blocks called ingots. Each ingot contains about 1.6 million drink cans” (Recycling Guide, 2008). The ingots are then taken to another plant where the bricks of aluminium are stretched and put through roller machines, making the bricks flat and giving it more strength and flexibility. The aluminium is then made into new pop cans, metal candy wrappers like, Hershey kisses wrappers, and building materials. They are finally ready to be sent out to shops to be used or sold again.

Recycling pop cans/aluminum is cost efficient because it doesn't cost very much to melt it and pour it in molds to create new stuff. They can buy the cans for cheap and still make a profit because the items they make out of it pay for the cost and more. “The aluminum can is the only package that more than covers its recycling costs, helping to finance the collection and recycling of other materials such as glass and plastic” (association, 2017).

Batteries should always be recycled because they have some harmful chemicals and metals inside them. Batteries are recycled mostly because we don’t know how to properly dispose of them ourselves. They have found a way to make use of them and reuse them, but mostly they are just harmful to us and they want to keep people from getting hurt.

The parts that you can recycle from cars are generally made into new items. When you scrap a car the workers just start separating all the different materials into their own kinds of metals, parts, and plastics. They are then shipped out in there families of metal and made into whatever materials they can.

Most of the polyester in clothing's are made from recycled plastic bottles. “ Clear bottles will create white yarn, and colored bottles will naturally create green yarn, or whatever color the bottle was” (Voss, 2017). The plastic bottles are first turned into plastic recycling plants. The plastic bottles are then separated from their lids and sent through a cleaning process. The plastic bottles are then separated by colors and put into separate machines that shred them into little chunks of plastic. The bits are then left to be dried out. The chunks are then put through a machine that stretches and thins them into strands that sort of looks like yarn. The stretchy yarn like pieces can then be used just like yarn or thread and can be made into all kinds of clothing.

Steal is very commonly recycled because its easy access to get and people just have it laying around there yards. Because steal is so easy to find the cost per pound is very low. steal can be melted and remade into many different things like farm equipment, fence poles, tools, and car parts. Even though steel can rust away to little bits if it is turned in to be recycled before it turns to dust then it can be reused over and over again. Though steal isn't worth much to recycle it is still worth recycling it because it helps build new technology.

Recycling can be used in many different ways and their are many materials that can be recycled and reused to make new items. Soda pop cans and plastic bottles are the best and easiest items to recycle, and are used to make a wide range of new materials to be used in our daily lives. Steal isn't the easiest to recycle but it is easy to recycle and can be used to recreate several items.
