Software

The original graphical interface of the Xbox 360 was a dashboard. A tabbed interface that featured five "blades" which are similar to folders stacked on top of each other, with each sticking out a little further, this interface would be launched in the start up menu and it was designed by the company Audiobrain. Users were provided with an option to select what the console does if a game or tray-inserted game was inserted when already upon initial startup. A simplified menu was made also accessible thanks to the Xbox Guide button on the original game pad. Xbox Live messages and their friends list were also displayed by the users gamer card on the start up menu as well.

The home dashboard was later changed to provide quicker access, and a better look. The new look called the New Xbox experience was similar to a list of folders, that you would go up and down to navigate between, and then left and right to navigate within. In this update there were many things added to help improve the overall experience of the gamer. They also added many more things that you could access from the pop up menu when you pressed the Xbox button, and this could be done in any app or game, allowing for easy access to all the applications you have.
