Composites material
Composites material is made out of two or more constituent material to make one strong reinforced part for car, boats, plains and a lot of other stuff. Back in ancient time when people made building out of mud, but it wasn’t strong with just mud. So, they started to add straw with it so by having straw mix with the mud this was called adobe. It made whatever they make stronger because it's more density, so it won’t break. But now technology has improved since then by having fibers to act like the straw. The type of fiber that are known are Fiberglass, Carbon Fiber, Aramid Fiber, Boron Fiber, Basalt Fiber and natural fibers like wood.
With having fiberglass there are hundreds of thousands of fibers compiled together with a plastic polymer resin. Common resins that are used the most are Epoxy, Vinyl Ester, Polyester. Also, composites are lighter and stronger than metal by having this advantage it will cost less on fuel for transportation. [i] beside the weight and strength advantages it has a longer life rate than steel. It with have low maintenance so you don’t always have to have someone check it or fix it. Also, it won’t dent easily than metal, so it will always look and run new for a long time period. Also, it will save you money in the future from maintenance cost and repairs if it doesn’t happen.
the disadvantage of having composite material is hard to tell if the interior of the structure has any damages. also, if composite structure damage it will be costly them regular materials. Another thing the resin used on the composite material is to weaken at the temperature of 150 degrees. When a fire break through the composite material it will send toxic fumes and micro-particle in the air causing health risk. Also, composite material can be costly[ii] and the process of making it as well is a long time.
composites are huge in the aviation field because of mostly all on the plane is made out of composite material. the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was the first airplane that used composite material instead of aluminum like they were made before. So now today's time most every plains structure is made out of composites because of the weight difference. But it was risky job building aircraft parts out of composites because you’re liable for that part if a plane crashes. There a wide variety of composites material from plains to snowboard while providing a long-standing and strong structure. You store this material in the freezer, so the material is always fresh, and It doesn’t take long to defrost when you take it out. It also has a stiff use with it, so you can have it be cut by a semi-automated cutting table to make cutting it easier.
